I have been shooting using the technique that Winogrand used - zone focusing and lifting the camera quickly to the eye, taking the shot and then bringing the camera back down. He did this really quickly. You need to see a video of it on YouTube here: http://bit.ly/howwinograndshoots I got a Minolta XE-7 SLR off of Craig's List a few months ago. It needed some cleaning but other than that it is in perfect working condition. What made me get it is the fact that Leica and Minolta were in a partnership when this camera was created. You can "feel" the Leica in how buttery smooth the film advance is. It's heavy though, so I don't feel as lithe and quick as the main character in Michealangelo Antonioni's "Blow Up." Anyway this weekend, I got to hit the streets before going to Cafe Royale for the Film Swap Christine Zona organized. We were so lucky that a festival was happening and that people were wearing colors that just seemed to pop. There was a surfeit of photography subjects. I heard the sound of laughter and turned to catch this couple drinking boba tea. This was shot in China Town using TMax 100, f/11 @ 1/250th of a second.
